WORLD-CLASS EXPERIENCE

Once a sleepy mining town, Canmore has morphed into a world-class destination for hikers, bikers, skiiers, rock climbers, adventurers, and visitors of all types. Canmore is also home to roughly 16,000 full-time residents, and many more residents that own second homes here. Canmore is not only picturesque, but offers an incredible outdoor lifestyle with countless outdoor activities during all seasons. Located in the heart of the Canadian Rockies and only 1 hour from Calgary, Canmore is the perfect place to call home for all different types.

Whether you'd prefer to take in the mountain views from a summit or the summit café, the small town lifestyle and accessibility to four-season fun is second to none. Canmore and Banff are known for having an exceptional food and beverage culture that ranges from local cafes, to high-end restaurants, to international cuisines. Here are some of my favourite places to grab a morning coffee, afternoon sandwich, or a full meal with friends and family at dinner time!

WHERE TO EAT

Tavern 1883

One of Canmore's best watering holes, Tavern 1883 is a family-friendly neighbourhood restaurant bar located in the downtown core of Canmore. Serving fresh "proper" food and delicious drinks, you can relax in this intimate venue with log walls and a patio facing west towards the Three Sisters and Mount Lawrence Grassi. Soak in the Rockies views and enjoy the best Canmore has to offer.

CANMORE'S BEST COFFEE

No morning in the Canadian Rockies is complete without a healthy dose of caffeine, and Canmore has lots of amazing coffee shops and roasteries to start your morning off on the right foot. These are some of my favourite places to fuel up with a coffee and a pastry before getting to work for the day.

Beamers Coffee Bar

With two locations in Canmore (one in downtown and one at the Shops of Canmore plaza), this is the place to be each morning for both the tourists and the locals. Beamers has been operating in the Bow Valley for 25 years, and offers delicious caffeinated beverages (both hot and cold), pastries, sandwiches, bagels, and even some alcoholic beverages for those who want to indulge!

Good Earth is another popular downtown coffeeshop that offers not only delicious caffeinated beverages, but tasty food as well. Their food menu goes beyond the typical coffeeshop offering of pastries and sandwiches, with daily soups, hot specials, salad bowls, and flatbreads for those looking for a tasty (and hearty) lunch in downtown Canmore.
